Blount v. Murphy

Murphy got off to a fast start against Blount in their first meeting of the year.

Nhat Pham scored in the first five minutes of the game as Murphy consistently put pressure on Blount's defense.  Pham's score was followed by Michael Taylor's score in the 8th minute off an assist from Carlo Schick.  Carlo Schick added Murphy's third goal in the 14th minute off an assist from Austin Pasch.  Trey Adams got a score in the 20th minute with an assist from Nhat Pham. 

Connor Klyce got his first goal of the year off a direct kick just outside the 18 after he was fouled.  He followed that up with his second goal four minutes later with a nice angled shot from the right side.  Austin Pasch then scored less than one minute later and Peter Hargett followed with another goal a minute after that off an assist from Carlo Schick.  

The first half ended with Murphy leading 8-0 and with Blount with no shots on goal.  

The second half scoring got started quickly when Atem Kout collected the ball at about mid-field and drove past the Blount defenders and found the back of the net 3 1/2 minutes into the second half.  

The final score of the game came in the 12th minute of the second half when Murphy advanced the ball into the box and Andrew Meadows found Graham Todd with a pass to the left side of the 6 and Todd put the ball in the back of the net.  

Murphy is now 4-0-2 and 2-0-0 in the Section.  Murphy will play McGill-Toolen and Grissom on Friday February 27 at the Island Cup.  Both McGill and Grissom are top 10 teams in the State with McGill being currently ranked at #9 and Grissom ranked at #2.  The Island Cup will prove to be a great challenge for the Murphy Panthers.
